Dear Regents-

As you know, instructions on filing the electronic 990-N were mailed last week. A problem has come to my attention and I need your assistance. Due to the critical nature of this problem, please contact all of your treasurers that are filing the electronic 990-N within 48 hours.

Please tell them that this is how they should fill out Question A on the Electronic Form 990 -- For tax year period beginning 1/1/2007 and ending 12/31/2007. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER DATES. Then, continue using the instructions given in the mail. If the form is not accepted or it states that this is not your filing date, then they are to stop and contact me at 202-667-3076 or email me at hqnsdac@verizon.net I will then have to provide them with additional assistance. Thank you for your help.

Teresa

Starting January 2008, all State and Chapter Societies will have the same fiscal year as the National Society (January through December 31st). This enables the National Treasurer and National Headquarters to ensure that the Form 990-N reporting requirement is met.

Caryl Stratton is the new Appalachian Section National Vice President and Juanita LaPlant is the New York State Regent.  We have accepted the resignation of Mary Dean Landers.

The National Society will no longer stock grave markers. The suggested supplier is Newman Brothers, Inc. It was felt that these markers were more attractive since the outer edge follows the cut of the leaves thus worth the cost of the 4-inch bronze marker—$152 and 8-inch bronze marker at $175. A copy of the NSDAC insignia suitable for etching into a grave stone is available. Both the order form for the grave maker and the insignia for the etching are available from the National Chairman of Historic Landmarks and Memorials, Telia Cunningham.

The Accession/Deaccession policy, as printed in the April minutes, was approved. Anyone wishing to make a non-monetary gift to the National Society should consult this policy. Donations to the library are submitted on the Library Donation Form.

ROTC/JROTC Medal of Awards will be available in January from Sarah White, National Awards Chairman, for $10.

Caldwell’s correct phone number is:  1 800 786 5890  (not 876)

The price for shipping &charge, from Caldwell, has gone up to $8.00.

The price for the JRTOC/ROTC medals, from Caldwell, have also increased:

1.  Gold filled JROTC/ROTC medal— $37.00.

2.  Bronze JRTOC/ROTC medal— $22.00
